If you’re looking for a holiday in an area that combines lush, tranquil woodland and a quiet rural way of life, with dramatic craggy coastlines and golden sandy beaches within half an hour’s drive, this part of Brittany is for you.
There is still a remarkable variety of wildlife in Brittany. Wild Boar still roam the forests (although rarely seen by holidaymakers!), otters can be spotted on the rivers and polecats and mink can be seen if you’re lucky.
Much of the wildlife is similar to the species found in the South West of England, but there are a number of bird species, and particularly insects, that you don’t see regularly at home.
Around Les Cerisiers we regularly see Buzzards soaring effortlessly on the thermals, or sitting on the hay bales watching for mice in the fields.
Brittany is a bird-lovers paradise, with over 250 species and seven nature reserves. Cap Frehel (40 minutes drive) is home to a wide variety of sea birds and many can be seen nesting on the cliffs.
